Insurance & Payments
Insurance, Fees & Payment Options
Questions about insurance and cost should not make starting therapy more confusing. The information below explains how insurance billing, private pay, and other payment options work at In Situ Counseling & Coaching.
Using Insurance
In Situ Counseling & Coaching accepts select insurance plans through Headway. Headway manages insurance verification, claims, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and other insurance-related billing information.
Coverage depends on the specific insurance company and plan. Being listed as participating with an insurance company does not guarantee that every plan is covered. Before your first appointment, Headway can provide an estimate based on the information received from your insurer, but the insurance company makes the final coverage determination.
Insurance Plans
In Situ Counseling & Coaching accepts select insurance plans through Headway. Participation may vary by the specific plan or product.

Insurance participation may change. Acceptance of an insurance company does not mean every plan or product is covered. Coverage, eligibility, copays, deductibles, and coinsurance depend on the individual plan. Visit my Headway profile for the most current participation information and benefit estimate.

Private-Pay Therapy
Private-pay therapy is available for clients who do not have insurance, prefer not to use insurance, or are not covered by one of the accepted plans. Payment is due according to the policies provided before services begin.

Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not include mental health diagnosis or treatment. Coaching is generally not covered by health insurance.
Reduced-Cost Therapy
Reduced-cost therapy may be available through Open Path for eligible uninsured or underinsured clients. Availability is limited and clients must meet Open Path’s eligibility and membership requirements.
Payment Methods
Accepted payment methods may include major credit or debit cards. Eligible therapy expenses may also be payable with an HSA or FSA card, depending on the rules of the client’s benefit plan.

Clients should confirm HSA or FSA eligibility with their plan administrator. Coaching may not qualify as an eligible healthcare expense.
Good Faith Estimates
Out-of-Network Benefits
If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, you may have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your services. Eligible clients will receive information about their estimated costs before self-pay treatment begins and may contact the practice with questions.
Some insurance plans include out-of-network mental health benefits. Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan. Contact the member-services number on your insurance card before beginning treatment to ask about out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, deductibles, reimbursement rates, and documentation requirements.
